The Amplimo 40PP6K5H is built as a wide bandwidth toroidal output transformer for tube amplifier output stages. It provides a 6.5 kΩ primary impedance and secondary connections for 0, 4 Ω and 8 Ω loads, making it a focused choice for demanding amplifiers and tube-based audio components.
Performance is defined by a -3 dB frequency bandwidth of 1 Hz to 133 kHz and a power bandwidth starting at 19 Hz. The transformer has a primary inductance of 665 H, primary leakage inductance of 4 mH and primary capacitance of 1000 pF, supporting stable wideband operation in suitable push-pull tube circuits.
The transformer includes 35% ultra-linear taps and dedicated lead connections for anode, B+, 0, 4 Ω and 8 Ω use. The 4 Ω tap has a turns ratio of 40.3, while the 8 Ω tap has a turns ratio of 28.4. Use only one secondary tap at a time, always connect the three white wires together and always connect the two black wires together. If the green and grey UL leads are not used, insulate them carefully with heatshrink.
For mechanical integration, the 40PP6K5H is potted in a black textured aluminium shell and mounts with an M8 x 20 centre bolt. The housing measures 126 mm in outside diameter by 66 mm high, weighs 2.6 kg and uses 200 mm leads, making it suitable for carefully planned amplifier builds and related amplifier accessories installations.
