The REDCATT 81XR is built as a high-output bass-mid woofer for designers who need more bass extension, more midrange capability and lower distortion from a compact driver. It is especially suited to 2-way and multi-way speaker systems where clarity through the mid frequencies is just as important as controlled low-frequency output.

At the heart of the 81XR is REDCATT’s patented XR motor design. Large neodymium magnets are positioned along the voice coil winding, while a static shorting coil on the pole piece helps reduce inductance across the driver’s excursion range. Combined with unique gap side venting, this design improves air circulation, reduces air noise and supports reliable performance under demanding use.

The driver uses a 63.5 mm voice coil with a glass fiber former, an 18.3 mm winding height and a 31 mm T-plate. It offers 6.35 mm peak Xmax, 25 mm Xmech and 30 mm peak-to-peak cone excursion capability. With 93 dB sensitivity, 16.00 T·m BL and only 0.190 mH inductance, the 81XR is a strong choice among professional woofers for low-distortion, high-excursion applications.

For bass reflex cabinet design, REDCATT recommends three useful alignments: 6 liters tuned to 77 Hz for high output and strong mid-bass, 8 liters tuned to 68 Hz for a balanced general-purpose setup, and 10 liters tuned to 59 Hz for extended low-frequency response with high-pass filter protection. The 81XR can also be used in subwoofer applications where compact size, low distortion and high excursion are required.
