Dayton Audio DATS V3 Computer Based Audio Component Test System
The DATS V3 is the latest version of the audio test system from Dayton Audio. The computer based test and measurement system is easy to use and has many features to acquire the right data of your loudspeaker system.
The electroacoustic parameters of a speaker system are very valuable when achieving your design goals. The DATS helps you to measure speaker impedance and acquire the parameters in a quick and easy manner. Besides measuring loudspeaker parameters, the DATS is perfect for measuring the exact values of passive components like resistors, capacitors and inductors. You can even use the DATS to analyse complete (cabinet, crossover and drivers) loudspeaker systems.
Besides analyzing loudspeaker components and complete loudspeakers systems, the DATS can also be used as signal generator and oscilloscope for small signal analysis. Software features like ‘Rub and Buzz Test’ reveal flaws and can help you with quality control in your workshop.
Please find the DATS V3 software available for download at DATS web page.
Q: Where can I find the calibration resistor?
A: The calibration resistor can be accessed through the binding posts next to test lead inputs at the front of the device.
Q: What are the system requirements?
A: The minimum system requirements are a Windows PC with 64MB RAM, 500 MHz Pentium III processor, MS Windows Vista, 7, 8, or 10. A USB 1.1 port.
Q: Is the DATS V3 compatible with Apple OS X?
A: The DATS V3 software is only available for Microsoft windows. The Audiomatica CLIO pocket is a great alternative that is compatible with Apple OS X.
Q: My measurement has many ripples, dips and peaks. I am sure the device under test is fine, what can I do?
A: For accurate measurements, please make sure both Windows and the DATS software use the DATS as in- /output device. You can access these settings through the Windows audio settings and in the DATS software from 'Audio Device Settings’ in the 'Edit' menu.
Q: Can I use the DATS for frequency response measurements?
A: The DATS V3 is an electrical signal analyzer and has no microphone feature. You cannot use the DATS for frequency response measurements. The miniDSP UMIK-1 is a measurement microphone that can be used for frequency response measurements. The Audiomatica CLIO Pocket 2.1 combines features for both acoustic and electrical signal measurements into one package.
