How it all started
From a small student room to a significant European player
Back in 2015, Martijn Ouwerkerk founded SoundImports and started running it from my small student room.
During my time in the United States, I gained a lot of insight into the speaker market and learned what you
- our European customers - are looking for a speaker components supplier.
After partnering up with some amazing brands, the first European customers were served and everything started to take off.
Since then, a lot has changed. In 2016, Koen joined the company, and ever since we have been working on building
the business by improving the webshop and supply chains, offering a wider range of DIY audio components,
and formulate a strategy focused on transparency and the best customer care.
Every day, we are working with our amazing and dedicated team to serve you the best way possible and keep improving
our business without losing sight of our key values.

Locally involved
In 2019 SoundImports became an official sponsor of the football club FC Groningen.
We wanted to be part of the community of young entrepreneurs that
contributes to the local identity through the sport of football.

In 2020 SoundImports received the Silver Prize of the Small category FD Gazelle designation,
awarded by the renowned newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad.
And, in 2021, we ranked 15th in our region.
The FD Gazellen Awards recognizes the fastest-growing profitable companies in the Netherlands in the previous three years.
